In pretty incredible circumstances, Manchester Punk Festival 2016 is SOLD OUT. Thanks to everyone who picked up a ticket, it’s due to be a pretty special few days. Continue reading
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Modern Baseball and Simmer shows at the end of February, two great shows at both ends of the scale! Modern Baseball was the biggest Moving North show ever, and the Simmer show at Retro Bar two days later had a bunch of brilliantly promising young bands from the North West.
Our third show of 2016 is going to be on the 28th February at Retro Bar featuring some of the most promising UK bands like the excellent Simmer and Leatherneck.
2015 was a great and busy year, we had a hand in 17 shows at 11 different venues. Ranging from tiny places like The Castle and The Eagle Inn where we had great, and packed, shows for Sam Russo and Apologies, I Have None – to the huge room at Gorilla and a sold out show in the top floor of Sound Control for Modern Baseball and Into It. Over It.
Our last show of the year, was a bit like last year, with Gnarwolves in the basement at Sound Control and I finally got to see Spraynard again after missing out on their show with Modern Baseball the last time round! Continue reading
Firstly, thanks to everyone who came out to the Apologies, I Have None / Hindsights show on Saturday night, how good was that! The Eagle Inn is a cracking little venue and all the bands were ace. That was Moving North’s penultimate show of the year, meaning one thing – we’ve got one left!
And what a line-up it is, Gnarwolves / Spraynard and Such Gold all on the same bill playing at Sound Control on Thursday 10th December. Continue reading
Not long to go now until our penultimate gig of the year and the line-up , if I do say so myself, is bloody brilliant. We’ve got two of the best bands in the country on a co-headline tour in Manchester (well, Salford) on a Saturday night.
Apologies, I Have None are a firm favourite in this city, having played here a number of times on headline and support slots while Hindsights were last seen a couple of months ago playing at A Carefully Planned Festival. Both bands are loud, dark and play with so much energy and honesty it’s fantastic. Continue reading
Time for a nice update on the gigs we’ve got coming up. Firstly, we’ve just announced that Moving North will be hosting one of only TWO shows for Modern Baseball in Europe next year when we welcome them to Gorilla on Friday 26th February.
This is a release show for the “Mobo Presents: The Perfect Cast” EP that you can listen to below. Continue reading
Sam Russo’s second full-length has just been released through the great folks at Specialist Subject Records and Red Scare Industries – we’re lucky enough to be hosting one of the three record release shows at the end of the month.
I fired some questions over to Sam about everything from the new record Greyhound Dreams, playing full band, supporting Dan Andriano and much more. Have a read. Continue reading
I first saw Former Cell Mates when they were on tour with The Gaslight Anthem in 2008, they played the first ever TGA shows in this country in London, Manchester and Nottingham. I went to London and Nottingham, long before I’d moved to Manchester.
After the show, my brother and I waited around to say hi to the guys in TGA as we’d met them a while ago in Berlin. We bumped into a few other dudes hanging around and I was taking a photo of their group and Brian Fallon when this voice told me to jump in the photo and he’d take it, that was the voice of David Lee Burdon from Former Cell Mates.
