There’s no .jpg that I can share, no link to an independent study, no hastily made meme with a statement that could be true or false. Every time I vote in an election, it matters a lot but I know that chance will come around again. I think that’s why the EU Referendum vote terrifies me more than anything else going on at the moment, this won’t happen again.
Moving North shows for June are all done and dusted, in the space of one weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out for the Blackhole and Brawlers show on Friday night, was nice to see Hopes back in the swing of things too. It was also the first time we’ve had the pleasure of using Fallow Cafe as a venue and it was bloody great.
Because 11 bands simply isn’t enough for Manchfester 4 – we decided to go and grab another two. In keeping with the old & new mix we’ve gone for someone who’s played many a Moving North show and a band that we’ve not yet had the pleasure of hosting. Continue reading
It’s that time of year, Manchfester is coming around with a line-up of old and new and a bit of inbetween to fill your ears with some brilliant music for a whole day.
It’s the first and quite likely last one that will ever be at The Star & Garter too before that’s closed down so extra emotional on that front. Bands, you ask? Continue reading
I’m really excited for this show. Fallow Cafe is a tiny venue that we’ve not had the pleasure of using before and this line-up couldn’t be more perfect for it. Continue reading
May kicked off for us with a ridiculous line-up at Retro Bar showcasing some of the best bands in the country at the moment, conveniently located under the Specialist Subject Records banner. Then we moved into the second week of May and had the honour of hosting the first ever Manchester show for The Bennies.
Both shows were brilliantly attended and went off without a hitch. Thanks to everyone who came to either, you make promoting shows in this city so enjoyable!
That’s May out of the way – then two gigs a month for June and July! Continue reading
In pretty incredible circumstances, Manchester Punk Festival 2016 is SOLD OUT. Thanks to everyone who picked up a ticket, it’s due to be a pretty special few days. Continue reading
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Modern Baseball and Simmer shows at the end of February, two great shows at both ends of the scale! Modern Baseball was the biggest Moving North show ever, and the Simmer show at Retro Bar two days later had a bunch of brilliantly promising young bands from the North West.
Our third show of 2016 is going to be on the 28th February at Retro Bar featuring some of the most promising UK bands like the excellent Simmer and Leatherneck.
2015 was a great and busy year, we had a hand in 17 shows at 11 different venues. Ranging from tiny places like The Castle and The Eagle Inn where we had great, and packed, shows for Sam Russo and Apologies, I Have None – to the huge room at Gorilla and a sold out show in the top floor of Sound Control for Modern Baseball and Into It. Over It.
Our last show of the year, was a bit like last year, with Gnarwolves in the basement at Sound Control and I finally got to see Spraynard again after missing out on their show with Modern Baseball the last time round! Continue reading
